Red Cross Helping 11 People After New Milford Fire

We will be available to help all the residents affected by the fire.

NEW MILFORD, CONN., August 21, 2014 - The American Red Cross is helping 11 people in six families after a fire today on Danbury Road in New Milford.

Eight adults in five families are receiving help with emergency food and clothing needs. The residents were able to make alternative housing arrangements.

A family of three adults is receiving help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

Red Cross Senior Director of Emergency Services Natalie Dos Santos said the Red Cross was available if needed to assist one additional resident not at the scene. “We will be available to help all the residents affected by the fire.”

Red Cross team members Amy Thomas, John Lennon, Nicki Collins, MJ deBourbon, Jim King, Kelly Johnson and Natalie Dos Santos responded to the fire and spent several hours at the scene, talking with and assisting displaced residents.

The Red Cross is also providing to all the residents comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a person might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers
