Red Cross Helping 13 People After Sunday and Monday Fires

The Red Cross is helping with emergency needs in the wake of the fire.

FARMINGTON, CONN., November 25, 2013 – The American Red Cross is helping 13 people after incidents on Sunday in East Haddam, East Hartford and Bridgeport and Monday in Stafford.

In East Haddam, the Red Cross is helping a family of two adults and three children with emergency food and clothing needs after a tree felled by high winds damaged their home Sunday on Launching Area Road. The children were provided with stuffed animal toys. Red Cross volunteers Beth Anderson and Paige Jamieson responded to assist the family.

In East Hartford, the Red Cross is helping a family of three adults displaced from their home on Wakefield Circle by a fire Sunday. The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs. Red Cross volunteers Jon Basso and Memo Alejandro responded to assist the family.

The Red Cross is helping three adults displaced Sunday by a fire at their home on Arctic Street in Bridgeport. The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing needs. Red Cross volunteers Shari Ellis, John Healy and Christine Hefferman, along with Red Cross staff Kristen Binau, responded to assist the residents.

The Red Cross is helping a family of two adults with emergency housing and food needs after a fire at their home on Old Monson Road in Stafford on Monday. Red Cross volunteers Val Ramos and Ginny Brezza responded to assist the family.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire. 

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
