Red Cross Helping 21 People After Capen Street Fire in Hartford

The Red Cross is helping families with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

HARTFORD, CONN., January 13, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping 21 people – 11 adults and 10 children in six families – after a fire earlier today on Capen Street in Hartford.

The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs, as well as baby needs and stuffed animal toys for the affected children.

Red Cross team members Pat Calcinari, Ginny Brezza, Ann Marie Braun and Robin Saunders responded to assist the families.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
