Red Cross Helping Four People After Willimantic Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

WILLIMANTIC, CONN., November 15, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping four people – three adults and one child in two families – after a fire today on Valley Street in Willimantic. The Red Cross is providing the families help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs, as well as additional assistance for winter clothing due to lower temperatures.  Red Cross volunteers James Hendricks, Eva Csejtey and Eldon Griffiths assisted in the response.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
