Red Cross Helping Seven People After Willimantic Fire

The Red Cross is providing help with emergency needs.

WILLIMANTIC, CONN., July 31, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping seven people – five adults and two children in four families – after a fire today on Jackson Street in Willimantic.

A family of one adult and two children received help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

A single adult received help with emergency housing and food needs.

A family of two adults received help with emergency food and clothing needs.

A single adult received help with emergency housing and food needs.

Red Cross volunteers Paulette Chandler, Eva Csejtey, Betty Adams and Lynn Wynn assisted the families.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
