Red Cross Helps 15 People After Wallingford Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

WALLINGFORD, CONN., November 21, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping 15 people – 13 adults and two children in three families – after a fire today on Whittlesey Avenue in Wallingford.

Eight adults and two children in two families received help with emergency food and clothing needs.

A family five adults received help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

One additional family did not require assistance.

Red Cross volunteers Lionel Dunlap, Missy Lundeen, John Jensen, Andrew Curtis and Geoff Harris responded to assist the families.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
