Red Cross Helps Family of Four After Bridgeport Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing and food needs.

BRIDGEPORT, CONN., October 31, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping a family of four adults with emergency housing and food needs after a fire early this morning on East Avenue in Bridgeport.

Red Cross volunteers Jenn Gillis and Mike Vincelli responded to assist the family. A second family living at the residence was not present, but information about contacting the Red Cross was left for them.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
