Red Cross Helps One Person After Meriden Fire

Our hearts and thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

MERIDEN, CONN., November 20, 2014 – the American Red Cross is helping one person with emergency housing, food and clothing needs after a fire last night on Hillside Street in Meriden. Red Cross team members Lionel Dunlap and Sue Parker responded to assist the resident.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

Parker, the Red Cross emergency services senior director in the area, expressed sadness about the death of another resident in the fire. “Our hearts and thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
