Red Cross Responds to Early Morning Fire in Hartford

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

HARTFORD, CONN., January 19, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping three adults in three families after a fire early this morning on Washington Street in Hartford.

Two adults received help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs. One adult received help with emergency housing and food needs.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items residents might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire. 

Red Cross volunteers Sandee Sorel-Leduc, James Petit and Ann Lankford responded to assist the residents.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
