Red Cross Responds to Manchester Fire

Our thoughts are with the friends and family of an additional resident who perished in the fire.

MANCHESTER, CONN., January 18, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping one person with emergency food and clothing needs after a fire early this morning on Park Street in Manchester. The resident made alternate arrangements for housing. A second resident of the multi-family structure did not require assistance for housing or emergency needs.

Both residents were provided comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a person might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

Red Cross volunteers Jonathan Basso and Marie Braun responded to assist the residents.

“Our thoughts are with the friends and family of an additional resident who perished as a result of this fire,” said American Red Cross spokesperson Paul Shipman.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
