PROVIDENCE, R.I., January 22, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping eight people – five adults and three children in three families – after a fire earlier today on Mt. Pleasant Avenue in Providence. The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing and food needs. Red Cross volunteers Mike Grimmer, Steve Carr and Melissa Shires responded to help the families.
The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.
