PROVIDENCE, R.I., March 9, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping 10 people – eight adults and two children in three families with emergency housing and food needs after a fire Saturday on Magnolia Street in Providence. Red Cross volunteers Mike Cote and Freddy Silva Responded to assist the families.
The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.
“This brings the total number of people in Rhode Island receiving help after fires this weekend to 54,” said Red Cross spokesperson Paul Shipman. He said the Red Cross previously reported responding to two additional fires in Providence and one in Central Falls.
