PROVIDENCE, R.I., January 1, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping 14 people after two New Year’s Day fires in Providence.
The Red Cross is helping five adults and one child in two families with emergency housing, food and clothing needs After an early morning fire on Eastwood Avenue. One adult needed help with food and clothing needs. A second family of four adults and one child needed help with housing, food and clothing needs. Red Cross volunteers Michael Cote and Freddy Silva responded to assist the families.
The Red Cross is helping five adults and three children in three families with emergency housing, food and clothing needs after an afternoon fire on Seamans Street in Providence. Red Cross volunteers Michael Cote and Ed Hart responded to assist the families.
The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.
American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
