Red Cross Helping Eight People After Providence Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

PROVIDENCE, R.I., February 17, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping eight people – seven adults and one child – with emergency needs after a fire Sunday afternoon on Evergreen Street in Providence.  Six adults and one child received help with emergency food and clothing needs. One adult received help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs. Red Cross volunteers Mike Cote, Ed Hart and Pat Quinn responded to assist the residents.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
