Red Cross Helping Newport Family After Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing and food needs.

NEWPORT, R.I., January 29, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping one adult and three children after a fire today on Hillside Avenue in Newport. The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing and food needs.

Red Cross volunteers Chanell Marte and Paul Taylor responded to assist the family.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
