PROVIDENCE, R.I., November 25, 2013 – The American Red Cross is helping nine people in four families after two morning fires in Providence.
The Red Cross is helping six adults and two children in three families with emergency housing, food and baby needs after a fire on Pleasant Street. The children were also provided stuffed animal toys. Volunteers Michael Cote and Freddy Silva responded to assist the families.
The Red Cross is helping one adult with emergency housing, food and clothing needs after a fire on Manton Avenue. Red Cross worker Phil Stocking and volunteer Steve Carr responded to help the displaced resident.
The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.
American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
