Red Cross Helps 17 People After Pawtucket Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

PAWTUCKET, R.I., November 29, 2014 - The American Red Cross is helping 17 people in five families after a fire Friday on Woodbine Street in Pawtucket.

The Red Cross is providing 12 people in three families help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs. A family of three received help with emergency housing and food needs. A family of two received help with emergency food and clothing needs.

Red Cross volunteers Melissa Shires, Stephen Carr, Paul Taylor and John Mongelli responded to assist the families.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire. 

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
