The 5th annual luncheon of the “In The Bag” luxury purse charity auction benefiting the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region raised over $100,000 in less than three hours on Friday, November 7 at the McLean Hilton. A sold out crowd of more than 255 women shoppers vied for 147 donated designers handbags such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Prada, Jimmy Cho, YSL, Michael Kors and many more.
Each year, “In the Bag” Founder Brenda Blisk forms a Steering Committee to put on the event. This year 36 exceptional women made this 5th Anniversary Luncheon a success.
“This is the most FUN event in the DC area,” says Brenda. “Where else can you go for lunch, network, and have fun bidding on designer purses and give back to your community? One of our sponsor tables was the lucky winners of 22 beautiful purses!”
A highlight of the event was two featured speakers telling their Red Cross stories: Faith from Northern Virginia, and Ela Landegger, co-founder of the Tiffany Circle of The Canadian Red Cross. Both women spoke about how they lost everything to fires, and what a blessing the Red Cross was to them in their darkest hours.
The money raised will support the five services of the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region, providing services to the armed forces, blood services, providing blood, health and safety training, disaster relief, and international services.
