Northeastern NY Red Cross Elects New Board Members

The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York is pleased to welcome J. Robert Daggett (FirstLight Fiber), Scott Klenk (CDPHP) and Rebecca Rathbun (GreyCastle Security) to its Board of Directors.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rob, Scott and Rebecca to our board,” said Gary Striar, CEO of the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York. “Their commitment and leadership will help to ensure that the Red Cross is there for our neighbors when they need us most.”

J. Robert Daggett is Chief Development Officer at FirstLight Fiber. He works closely with FirstLight’s Enterprise Division, which handles technology for large clients in the region. His responsibilities include strategic planning, sales and marketing, public relations, policy and procedure development, and team building. Daggett has served on several local boards and committees including the Colonie Youth Center (current member and president), the Regional Food Bank, the College of St. Rose, and Comptel Marketing Council.

Scott Klenk is Senior Vice President, Human Capital Management at CDPHP.  His responsibilities include change management, benefit design and administration, organizational development, leadership development/team building and performance management.  Klenk is a graduate of East Stroudsburg State College and Marywood College. Prior to his move to Upstate New York, Klenk served as Chairman of the Board for the American Red Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Rebecca Rathbun is a Cybersecurity Solutions Analyst at GreyCastle Security in Troy, NY.  She works directly with clients to help them develop and/or enhance security processes and/or programs, and she is responsible for building out GreyCastle’s Channel Program. Prior to GreyCastle, Rathbun worked as an Account Manager for Tag Solutions, where she provided consultative support and strategic account management to major customers. Rathubun is a graduate of the College of St. Rose.

The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York is also pleased to announce the appointment of two youth board members – Gabrielle Purick, a senior at SUNY New Paltz and Kelly Russo, a junior at Siena College – for the 2015-2016 fiscal year, beginning July 1. In addition to their service as board members, Purick and Russo also serve as leaders of Red Cross Clubs on their respective campuses.

With the addition of Daggett, Klenk, Rathbun, Purick and Russo, the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York now comprises 34 business and community leaders who volunteer their time to help fulfill the organization’s mission. Board officers for the 2015-2016 fiscal year are Denise Sheehan (Capitol Hill Management Services, Inc.) – Chair, and Kristen Delaney (iHeart Media) and Gary Holmes (Time Warner Cable News) – Co-Vice Chairs.

The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York serves a population of more than 1.1 million people across Albany, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington counties. Last year, Red Cross staff and volunteers across these nine counties responded to 172 local disasters, trained 23,489 people in lifesaving skills, prepared 9,833 people for emergencies, served 217 members of the military during critical life moments, and assisted in collecting 54,185 donations of blood.
