The American Red Cross’ Winter Warmth Project received a special donation of more than 100 child-size blankets yesterday, courtesy of SEFCU and Twill. These blankets will be delivered to children of military parents in the coming weeks through the American Red Cross Services to Armed Forces (SAF) program.
“SEFCU staff had the opportunity to receive a gift this past holiday season and in true SEFCU fashion about 130 of them chose the option that included a donation to someone in need. Thanks to these employees, Twill blankets will be delivered to military children in our community through the American Red Cross,” said Michael J. Castellana, SEFCU President and CEO.
"As a start-up company with a passion of giving locally, this is a dream come true,” said Zac Halloran, Twill Founder and CEO. “Partnering with two remarkable organizations that also share a vision of giving back made this day possible."
“We’re incredibly grateful to SEFCU and Twill for this donation,” added Dianna Rios, SAF Program Manager for the American Red Cross Eastern New York Region. “When we deliver these blankets to military kids in our community – especially those with a parent on active duty – we will be giving them a little bit of comfort, and that is something truly special.”
The American Red Cross launched its first-ever “Winter Warmth Project” in the Eastern New York Region on Veteran's Day 2014. Throughout the winter months, the Red Cross has been collecting and distributing donations of new winter apparel and accessories to benefit homeless and in-need veterans and military families. The Winter Warmth Project will continue through March 31.
