On Sunday, November 15, the Hawaii Red Cross along with sponsors Windward Mall and JN Automotive, will be holding its first ‘Aloha for Heroes’ event- a fundraiser to support the American Red Cross Services to the Armed Forces and Veterans.

The event will take place at the Windward Mall Center Court from 10:00am to 4:00pm, where the public can show their support of our Armed Forces by writing a card of gratitude to our local service members and veterans.  For every card that is written, Windward Mall and JN Automotive will donate $1 to the Hawaii Red Cross.

Motorcycle enthusiasts are also invited to participate in a motorcycle competition in multiple categories to win cash prizes and trophies. Registration to enter this contest is $25 per bike on the day of the event and all proceeds will go to the Hawaii Red Cross. In addition to responding to disasters such as home fires and hurricanes, the American Red Cross is on-call 24/7 to deliver emergency communication between military service members and their families during times of crisis.  The Red Cross helps military families develop resiliency skills by providing pre-deployment briefings, reconnection workshops and classes to help cope with deployment.  They also run a Human Animal Bond Program at military hospitals where volunteers and their dogs bring comfort and joy to soldiers, families and staff through Animal Assisted Activities. Together with volunteers at Tripler Army Medical Center, Schofield Barracks, Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, and Kaneohe Bay MCBH, Hawaii Red Cross volunteers donate an average of 35,000 hours per year to our Armed Forces.

The Red Cross is not a government agency; it depends on public contributions to help others. Your gift supports the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross in your community, across the country and around the world.  To send a contribution, mail your check to American Red Cross, 4155 Diamond Head Road, Honolulu, Hawaii  96816 or make a secure online donation at or call (808) 739-8109.
