Breaking News - Floods in Northern Chile

Please be advised that during the first few days after a disaster, it is common to experience disruptions in communication.

On the night of 24 March 2015, flash floods affected the Regions of Atacama, Antofagasta and Coquimbo in Northern Chile. The Chilean Red Cross and the ICRC have activated the Family links website, which is operational at the following address: http://familylinks.icrc.org/chile/

This family links website offers people the possibility to:

• Search through the list of missing persons and people who have responded that they are alive

• Register names of persons with whom they have lost contact

• Register names of persons who wish to inform others that they are alive

People can register in a form on the website, which is submitted to the Chilean Red Cross. Names will not automatically appear on the lists in the website. The names which people wish to make public will need to be processed by the Red Cross first, which is continuously updating the lists.

Please be advised that during the first few days after a disaster, it is common to experience disruptions in communication. Continue to try usual methods of communication (phone, social media, email) to restore contact.
