The American Red Cross today announced the appointment of long-time Kankakee chapter board member Randy Van Fossan to join the organization’s larger 13-county regional Board of Directors for Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
“I am pleased to welcome Randy to represent Kankakee County on our regional board, which will help guide the strategic direction of Red Cross activities across the greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana region," said Gordon T. Johnson, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Kankakee County. "Randy has been a member of the Kankakee Red Cross board for 13 years, the last four taking the leadership role as chairman."
Throughout his tenure with the Red Cross, Van Fossan has set high goals to actively grow membership, fundraising efforts and volunteerism throughout Kankakee County. The Red Cross has been active in Kankakee County this winter with volunteers responding to more than 14 home fires to help 11 families since Jan. 1. The colder temperatures tend to spark more fires as affected families are in need of shelter, food and clothing.
“Being able to help people is a central part of my life, and I'm happy I can be of service to my community through the American Red Cross,” said Van Fossan.
Van Fossan has been with Country Financial in Kankakee County for 17 years. As a professional representative, he works closely with his clients to help them achieve financial security. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Eastern Illinois University and earned his master of theology from Garrett Theological Seminary.
