Ninety percent of central Illinois car seats are improperly installed which puts children at risk if they are involved in a crash. The American Red Cross, Safe Kids, The Children’s Hospital of Illinois, the Illinois Department of Transportation and Mangold Ford Mercury of Eureka are teaming up to hold a free car seat check for area residents.
“Car seat installation can be very stressful for parents,” said Lisa Maynard, Red Cross car seat technician. “At a car seat check, parents will learn some tricks of the trade and leave knowing that their child’s car seat is properly installed and safe”.
The free check will be on Tuesday, August 27 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Ford Mangold Mercury in Eureka.
