Red Cross Volunteer From Quincy Area Deployed to Oklahoma

OKC family speaks with Red Cross volunteer

Two volunteers from the American Red Cross Serving the Quad Cities and West Central Illinois have deployed to assist families in Oklahoma who were affected by the tornadoes on March 25, 2015. The hardest hit area was Sand Springs, Oklahoma, located west of Tulsa. Official reports indicate several tornadoes hit the area, destroying or damaging as many as 50 homes. Tornado activity was also reported in Moore, site of the devastating 2013 tornado outbreak.

Gayle Lundeen, a volunteer member of the Quad Cities Disaster Action Team deployed on April 1, 2015 to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dwain Wilkerson, a volunteer member of the Quincy Disaster Action Team deployed to Oklahoma City on April 1, 2015. Both Gayle and Dwain have completed extensive Red Cross training on disaster relief and recovery. Gayle and Dwaine will be assisting families in Oklahoma for approximately three weeks.

Gayle has been a Red Cross volunteer since 2011 and this is her first deployment. Dwaine has been a volunteer since 2009 and his previous deployments include the November 2013 tornado outbreak in Central and Southern Illinois.
