Red Cross responds to multiple local disasters in the month of September

The Illinois Capital Area Chapter has responded to multiple home fires and one event of storm damage

The Illinois Capital Area Chapter has responded to multiple home fires and one event of storm damage in just the last couple of weeks.  Many local families received vital Red Cross assistance thanks to the generosity of donors and dedication of local volunteers. 

On Thursday, September 12, 2013, volunteers met with a family that experienced a home fire.  Red Cross volunteers provided family of 4 with assistance. 

On Friday, September 13, 2013, disaster volunteers responded to a multi-family house fire in Roodhouse, IL. Volunteers provided for 2 families' emergency needs.

On Tuesday, September 17, 2013, volunteers responded to a house fire in Springfield, IL.  Volunteers assisted the family of 4 with food and clothing. 

On Thursday, September 19, 2013, Red Cross disaster volunteers responded to a home fire in Mechanicsburg, IL.  The family of 8 was left homeless. The Red Cross provided the family with their emergency disaster caused needs including food, clothing and lodging.   

On Friday, September 20, 2013, Illinois Capital Area Chapter volunteers responded to a damaged home in Springfield, IL.  Due to the rainstorm on September 19, the home collapsed causing one member of the family to be admitted to a local hospital.  The Red Cross met with the family of four and provided lodging.  Volunteers are also assisting the family to find permanent housing through a network of local partner agencies.
