Red Cross Ride for the Red to Provide Disaster Training
5th Annual Ride for the Red to take place September 13 at Heartland Park.

The 5th annual Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc. Ride for the Red, will take place Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Heartland Park Topeka.

The day will kick-off at 7:30 a.m. at Heartland Park Topeka (HPT) with a pancake breakfast and a 2-1/2-mile motorcycle cruise on the HPT Grand Prix road course, followed by a 120-mile ride through the Flint Hills with stops in Eskridge, a BBQ Lunch in Wamego, and to Rossville. The event concludes at approximately 1:30 p.m. with a post-ride party at Heartland Park, which will feature live and silent auctions, live entertainment, and free entry to the HPT race events that evening.

This year, the motorcycle ride features something unique, an opportunity for local disaster volunteers to practice their skills. Trained Red Cross disaster volunteers will use the event as a training in Mass Care and Feeding by using the Emergency Response Vehicle to feed lunch to the riders in Wamego.

Disaster workers respond locally and nationally to home fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other disasters across the country.

All registered riders will receive a limited edition t-shirt and kickstand plate. To register for Ride for the Red, go to redcross.org/kansasrideforthered. For more information, call 785-234-0568.
