Red Cross of Alaska to Host Disaster Leadership Institute May 11-14

ANCHORAGE, May 3, 2017 — The American Red Cross of Alaska will host the Alaska Disaster Leadership institute from May 11-14, at the University of Alaska Anchorage, Rasmuson Hall.

This is a multi-day training conference designed to increase leadership capacity for Red Cross disaster responders statewide. Attendees will come from a wide variety of backgrounds and locations and will include Red Cross volunteers, employees and partners.

The cost is $45 for overnighters and $25 for commuters. Cost covers lodging, food, transportation to-and-from the airport or Anchorage Red Cross office, and all training (cost is the same for one or multiple classes).

Course Offerings & Tracks

Course audience and skill level will vary from basic to advanced, and will cover topics including:

  • Health/Mental Health
  • Logistics
  • Casework
  • Government Operations
  • Shelter Management
  • Mass Care
  • Public Affairs

Many of the courses offered at the institute have prerequisite trainings. If you do not have the prerequisites yet, we will work with you to complete your prerequisite training prior to the Institute.

In FY16, the American Red Cross of Alaska offered food, shelter, comfort and hope to 608 Alaskans.
