Red Cross and City of Hartford install more than 655 Smoke Alarms on 9/11

It was an inspiring day for all of us.

One way to be prepared is to ensure that you have working smoke alarms in your home. As part of the Red Cross Home Fire Preparedness Campaign, we have been going out to communities across Connecticut and Rhode Island to install free smoke alarms and provide emergency preparedness education to residents. 

We all had the opportunity to witness the importance of this campaign first hand during our tremendously successful 9/11 Day of Service in Hartford and Willimantic. Some 200 Red Crossers and Cigna volunteers came out to help install more than 655 smoke alarms in the community over that weekend. It was an inspiring day for all of us to help provide education and resources to those who need it the most.
