ATLANTA, GA, (TUESDAY, April 26, 2016) — Last week, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars veteran Mark Hamill kicked off a new campaign sponsored by CrowdRise in support of Star Wars: Force for Change, an initiative that inspires people to make a positive impact. The campaign invites Star Wars fans to donate to four charities, including the American Red Cross, until “Star Wars Day” on May the 4th, and Star Wars: Force for Change will match all donations one-to-one up to $1 million. To date, the Star Wars: Force for Change has raised over $10 million with the help of the Star Wars community.
“Georgia’s Red Cross is honored and excited to be a part of the Star Wars: Force for Change campaign,” said CEO Terri Badour. “We’re thankful to Lucasfilm and Star Wars fans everywhere for their support for our Red Cross mission.”
Throughout the month, incentives and prizes will be revealed to encourage participation, and donors who contribute $10 or more will be entered for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to Ireland, including Skellig Michael along the Wild Atlantic Way, the location of the dramatic final scene from The Force Awakens. This fundraising campaign is tied to the DVD/Blu-ray release of Star Wars: Force Awakens.
