Do You Know a Local Hero?
American Red Cross Seeking Nominees for Local Heroes Recognition
Honoring Residents in San Joaquin, Calaveras and Amador Who Exhibited Heroism in 2015
San Joaquin County – January 18, 2016. The American Red Cross Sierra-Delta chapter is seeking out local heroes of San Joaquin, Calaveras and Amador counties to be honored at the 14th Annual Red Cross Heroes Breakfast. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Wine & Roses in Lodi.
The Red Cross is asking community members to nominate individuals who they consider heroes. Do you know someone who has demonstrated an act(s) of heroism in the last year? Now is your chance to place them in the spotlight. Submit the story of your hero and why they should be recognized.
Candidates for nomination can be anyone who lives or works in San Joaquin, Calaveras or Amador Counties who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to exhibit a true act of selflessness. There are seven different categories for nomination including adult and young good Samaritans, animal and veteran heroes.
“We are encouraging people to consider the heroism surrounding us on a daily basis,” said Liza Cruz, a Stockton resident and Red Cross staff member. “Our Heroes Breakfast is an opportunity to honor those who should be recognized for their courage, compassion and willingness to help others.”
The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, February 3, 2016. Nomination forms can be found at www.redcross.org/GoldCountry, just click on “Heroes Awards.” Or, you can nominate right from the website!
