Hosted by Cape Cod Beer, the Chili Fest will satisfy your hunger & spirit

As the season turns colder, you can warm up while also warming a veteran at the 2nd Annual Red Hot Red Cross Chili Fest Friday November 11.

Hosted by Cape Cod Beer, the Chili Fest will feature 10 different mouth-watering chili entries to satisfy all those who attend. Admission to the event is $10 or a gift of winter gear that will help to warm a veteran this winter.

There are 10 contestant spots available for chili chefs to win the sought after trophy, the Red Hot Red Cross Chili Bowl. The $10 entry fee goes to the Cape, Islands and Southeast Massachusetts chapter of the American Red Cross and goes to support the local community during disasters.

Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis is once again hosting the event at their facility on Phinney’s Lane. Cape Cod Beer started out in April of 2004, brewing at the old Hyport Brewing Company at the west end of Main Street in Hyannis. Now located at 1336 Phinney’s Lane in Hyannis Lane in Hyannis, Cape Cod Beer distributes its product from Plymouth to Provincetown.

Last year’s event featured chili from entrants across the Cape benefiting the American Red Cross of the Cape, Islands and Southeast Massachusetts. This year in lieu of the $10 admission, tasters can make a donation to the Warmer Winters program of the Red Cross. A donation of gloves, hats, scarves or socks will go to the Service to Armed Forces program of the American Red Cross. Donations will be distributed to homeless veterans in need in the local area.

“What an appropriate day to enjoy great chili and at the same time help our homeless veterans stay warm,” said Hilary Greene, executive director with the Cape, Islands and Southeast Massachusetts Chapter of the American Red Cross. “Thanks to Cape Cod Beer you can come out for good food and drink and bring some warm items to donate to those who have served our country. Red hot chili and warm hats, scarves, gloves to keep us all warm inside that’s what this event is all about.”

The prize for first place this year will be the coveted Red Cross Chili Bowl. But this event is really about raising awareness to help provided needed items for our areas homeless veterans. Your donations and gifts of winter items go directly to help the most vulnerable in our community.

This year DJ Lori Lori from PIXY 103 will be providing music for the Chili Fest. Cape Cod Radio and PIXY 103 are sponsoring this year’s event.
