MEIJER PARTNERS WITH AMERICAN RED CROSS IN DISASTER RELIEF
The American Red Cross relies on the generosity of our volunteers, donors and partners to fulfill our lifesaving mission.

Detroit, MI: Feb. 10, 2016 – The American Red Cross is proud to announce Meijer, headquartered in Grand Rapids, is generously donating $550,000 in support of Red Cross disaster relief efforts through the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP).

ADGP members provide disaster relief support in advance of disasters pledging donations on an ongoing basis, in preparation of major disasters, to ensure the Red Cross can respond immediately to meet the needs of those affected by disasters of all sizes—from wildfires to home fires. Red Cross services are always provided at no cost to those in need of assistance and regardless of income; work made possible through the generosity of supporting partners like Meijer that go the distance to help families during the recovery process.

“The American Red Cross relies on the generosity of our volunteers, donors and partners to fulfill our lifesaving mission,” said American Red Cross Michigan Region CEO Kimberly Burton. “Thanks to Meijer’s ongoing consideration, the Red Cross is able to immediately respond to the needs of people affected by disasters whenever and wherever they strike.”

“Meijer understands how important it is to support the communities where our customers and team members work and live, and this includes giving in advance of disaster striking,” Meijer Chief Executive Officer Hank Meijer said. “When disaster strikes, time makes all the difference, and we are pleased to increase our support for the American Red Cross of West Michigan – an organization that does so much good for those in our community when they need it most.”
