Red Cross and Brooklyn Park Fire Offering Training

What’s most rewarding is being able to help people get through a difficult time.

The American Red Cross is teaming up with the Brooklyn Park Fire Department to bolster its ranks of local volunteers helping families after disasters, such as home fires. Red Cross “Fast Track” training will be held March 10 and 11 at the Brooklyn Park Fire Department and include Disaster Action Team (DAT) Induction. Disaster Simulation and Psychological First Aid.

“For me, what’s most rewarding is being able to help people get through a difficult time,” says Brooklyn Park resident and Red Cross volunteer Terry Menge. “I’ve learned that a hug and kind word gives them strength to move on from tragedy. Each call to action brings its own unique circumstances. I’m grateful for those who've welcomed me to use their home, car, or other space for warmth on a winter night while I’m helping their neighbors affected by disaster.”

You can make a difference and bring help and hope to your neighbors in need.
