Runners Hit the Pavement in Millburn to Support Red Cross

Thank you to the runners who laced up their sneakers to help support the work of the Red Cross.

More than 300 runners lined up at the start line at the 11th Annual Run for the Red 5K Race and Walk on Sunday, December 4 in Millburn to run to support American Red Cross programs and services. 


“Thank you to all of the runners and walkers who laced up their sneakers to help support the work of the American Red Cross,” said Ana Montero, regional CEO, American Red Cross New Jersey Region. 

The race, officially sponsored by Investors Bank and M&T Bank, took runners on a USATF-NJ certified course through the South Mountain Reservation before returning to the start/finish line outside the Millburn Public Library.

Top overall male finisher Dan Bier of Short Hills was the first across the finish line with a time of 17:08 and top overall female finisher Allison Malecki of Jersey City finished with a time of 19:41. Mark Geiger of Randolph and Arnaud Burckle of Short Hills took home second and third place overall male honors respectively. Katelyn Zegas of Millburn came in as the second place overall female finisher followed by Katrina Leigh of Livingston. View the complete Run for the Red 5K race results.

Proceeds from the event benefit Red Cross programs and services, including Disaster Services. Last year, the Red Cross responded to more than 750 disasters in New Jersey and provided comfort and emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food and clothing as needed to more than 1,800 families.
