The American Red Cross of the Southern Tier is hosting an Open House on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at the chapter office located at 620 E. Main Street, Endicott.
The public is invited to attend the informal event to meet staff and volunteers, learn about programs and services, and explore ways to support the Red Cross as a volunteer. Opportunities are available in Disaster Services, Blood Services, Service to the Armed Forces, and Health and Safety Services, among others. Light refreshments will be served.
The Southern Tier Chapter serves Broome, Chenango, Tioga and Tompkins Counties. The Red Cross relies on a corps of dedicated men and women who volunteer their time and energy to help serve the community.
Last year, more than 740 free smoke alarms were installed in area homes as part of the Home Fire Campaign; Disaster Action Team members responded to more than 100 home fires and other disasters; Blood Services collected 18,500 life-saving blood donations; Service to the Armed Forces provided assistance for 250 military members, veterans and their families; Health and Safety Services trained nearly 9,000 people in CPR, First Aid and other life-saving skills; and volunteer instructors educated 500 local students in disaster preparedness through the ongoing Pillowcase Project.
