Celebration to be held at the International Tennis Hall of Fame
“The Red Cross has been an integral part of the Rhode Island community for 100 years, helping prevent and relieve suffering ---- by carrying out our five core lines of service,” said Tempie Thompson, Executive Director, Red Cross Rhode Island Chapter. “We are excited to celebrate this amazing milestone by honoring our past and celebrating our future with the Rhode Island Community.”
The first Rhode Island Chapter of the Red Cross was chartered on September 15, 1916 on Aquidneck Island.
The Century of Service celebration will be held at the International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF). The ITHF is part of The Newport Casino, a National Historic Landmark that was first opened on July 26, 1880 as a social club for Newport’s turn of the century summer elite. Guests of the Red Cross Rhode Island Centennial Celebration will have the opportunity to tour the historic museum during the event. The event will also feature a live band and auction with all proceeds benefitting the Red Cross in Rhode Island.
This Gala, is chaired by Red Cross Rhode Island Board Members Rick McAuliffe, Jr. of The Mayforth Group. The event is being sponsored by Walmart. The centennial celebration will be hosted by WPRI weekend morning anchor and reporter, Brian Yocono and promises to be an evening full of fun, history and inspiration.
