North Charleston, S.C., March 15, 2016 – The American Red Cross of Lowcountry SC has named Thomas Evans as the Disaster Program Specialist for Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.
“I joined the American Red Cross because I want to make a difference,” says Evans. “I am excited to be part of an organization that brings help to communities when they need it the most.”
As a Disaster Program Specialist, Evans is responsible for the implementation of the disaster services program in Georgetown, SC and Williamsburg, SC. Evans will lead and manage a volunteer team responsible for implementation of disaster preparedness, response and recovery programs in the local community. Evans will also be a part of the Disaster Management Cycle, responsible for local preparation, response and recovery management as well as management of government partnerships in the area.
Evans graduated from University of Central Florida with a degree in Public Administration and Emergency Management. Evans then spent two years working for AmeriCorps FEMA Corps NCCC. During this time, Evans was deployed to assist the Red Cross in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City and worked with FEMA in Denver, Minneapolis, and Red Bank, NJ.
