The American Red Cross Serving Greater San Antonio will wrap up its year-long Centennial celebration with a Red Carpet Gala on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tobin Center.
This year’s gala is expected to be the organization’s biggest yet, as it celebrates the 100th anniversary of the San Antonio chapter charter by honoring a century of humanitarian service and looks forward to a future of delivering its mission in the greater San Antonio area. Individual tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available here.
The gala will include new and special events to celebrate this milestone and recognize those who have been instrumental in carrying out the organization’s mission. Special honors to individuals and corporations that have exemplified passion, dedication and service will include:
- Peggy Walker, Inaugural Humanitarian Award
- Tesoro Corporation, Value of Service Award
“These honorees really embody the spirit of philanthropy. Peggy has deep roots in the Red Cross and has been a vital volunteer in our organization’s Planned Giving efforts,” said Monica Reyes, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Serving Greater San Antonio. “And Tesoro has been an amazing supporter—both locally and nationally. We are fortunate to have them as Red Cross advocates and great corporate citizens.”
“As a company committed to making our communities stronger, safer places to live, work and play, we are honored to be recognized with the 2016 Value of Service Award from the American Red Cross,” said Jared Skok, Executive Director, Foundation and Director, Community Investments at Tesoro. “We are proud of our historical support of the Red Cross and are grateful to the San Antonio chapter for 100 years of service.”
The gala will raise funds for teh American Red Cross Serving Greater San Antonio's service to the armed forces programs and disaster cycle services in our community. The event is co-chaired by Aaron and Rebecca Martinez and Tim and Karen Schmelzer. Aaron and Tim are Red Cross Board Members and work for Tesoro and Rackspace, respectively.
