Northwestern PA Red Cross to Honor Heroes

The American Red Cross of Northwestern Pennsylvania will honor Harley-Davidson of Erie and a volunteer with the Metcalf Distinguished Service Award at its 12th Annual Heroes Award Reception on Wednesday, April 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hemingway Lounge in the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center, 7794 Peach Street in Erie.

“We are very pleased to recognize Harley-Davidson of Erie as our Community Hero and to honor one of our outstanding volunteers,” said Pam Masi, executive director of the American Red Cross of Northwestern Pennsylvania. “As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the generous support of local donors and volunteers to sustain our lifesaving mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. Harley-Davidson has been a valued partner over the years in helping us meet that mission.”

The Red Cross is a recipient of proceeds from Harley-Davidson of Erie’s annual BikeFest.  A highlight of the Heroes event will be the unveiling of a custom Harley-Davidson motorcycle donated by Harley-Davidson of Erie.

The event also honors a volunteer with the Metcalf Distinguished Service Award, which is given to a volunteer who has provided outstanding service to the Red Cross in support of its mission. The new recipient will be announced at the Heroes event. Lou Baxter, news director of JET 24, Fox66 and YourErie.com, will serve as master of ceremonies.

Gold level sponsors this year include Erie Insurance, First Niagara Bank and JET 24/Fox 66/yourerie.com.
