Friday, August 1, 2014 – It was a busy and difficult week for American Red Cross Disaster Teams in Massachusetts, responding to a range of local emergencies. In addition to helping hundreds with food, cleanup supplies and emergency funds following Monday’s tornado in Revere, the Red Cross has responded to several fires across the state as well as a felled tree on a family’s home since Sunday, July 27.
Teams of volunteers were sent to Brockton, Cambridge, East Boston, Everett, Otis, Stow, Agawam and Worthington to assist families following emergencies. In all, the Red Cross helped just under 100 people with funds for emergency needs, including food, clothing, shelter and transportation.
As the Red Cross of Massachusetts continues to follow up with the families affected by these emergencies to assist with recovery, the organization is also looking ahead to the coming months. It’s because of the generosity and continued support of the community that the Red Cross is able to respond to these emergencies and provide assistance to families in need.
On Sunday, August 3, Uno Pizzeria & Grill will host a “dough raiser” to benefit Red Cross disaster relief. Massachusetts residents can bring the attached coupon to any Uno Pizzeria & Grill restaurant in the state and 20% of their dining bill will be donated to the American Red Cross of Massachusetts.
The Red Cross appreciates the support of the community and encourages those interested in helping their neighbors affected by disasters like the recent tornado, house fires and other emergencies to eat out Sunday, August 3 at Uno Pizzeria & Grill using the attached coupon.
