Disaster information is about to become readily accessible.
On Friday, the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts signed an agreement with Massachusetts 211. What does it mean? The public can now call 2-1-1 for information of Red Cross delivery during a response.
“Information on shelter sites, feeding locations, bulk distribution points and more can be accessed by the public through calling 2-1-1,” explained Leighton Jones, Regional Disaster Officer. “We will provide regular updates to 211 on our service delivery locations during a response.”
Mass 2-1-1 is an easy to remember telephone number that connects callers to information about critical health and human services available in their community. It’s confidential, and responds immediately during times of crisis.
