Red Cross Aids Hyannis Families After Fire Escape

Fires can happen anytime – day, night, weekday or weeknight. When it struck a Hyannis home on Dec. 8, the American Red Cross of Cape Cod & Islands was there to help.

Volunteers responded to 147 Main St. that afternoon, where three families were affected by a blaze. One of those families had just narrowly escaped to safety, and the Red Cross was there to help meet their immediate needs.

Volunteers provided hotel stay to two families – one family had a place to stay, and funds for food, clothing, shoes, seasonal clothing and infant formula. Meanwhile, volunteers provided food and beverages to first responders working hard to extinguish the fire.
