Several local organizations got together last weekend for one common cause: to feed veterans.
The American Red Cross, Greater Boston Food Bank, the VA Boston Healthcare System, the Massachusetts Department of Veterans Services and Bank of America teamed up at the Brockton VA Hospital on Nov. 16 to feed veterans in a farmer’s market style distribution of assorted foods.
They served 400 veterans and their families.
“This is a time of thanks, and providing good food to our veterans is one small way to show our appreciation of their service,” explained Jarrett Barrios, CEO of the American Red Cross of Massachusetts.
Veterans each took home five bags of groceries, which included items like onions, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, canned goods, assorted breads, frozen pizza, broccoli and cheddar soup and more.
