The American Red Cross has moved its supply distribution site from the Cronin Skating Rink to the American Legion at 249 Broadway in Revere. Residents can visit the site to pick up cleaning supplies including tarps, gloves, rakes, first aid kits, dust masks, safety goggles, ear protectors and other cleanup supplies. The site will remain open until 7:00pm this evening and resume again tomorrow from 9:00am - 7:00pm.
Teams of Red Cross volunteer caseworkers are canvassing the affected neighborhoods to provide additional assistance based on the specific needs of the families affected. Residents in need of assistance can also call the Red Cross at 1-800-564-1234.
Disaster Mental Health volunteers are also circulating through the affected neighborhoods to help residents cope with the emotions fear, shock and grief that are often experienced after disasters of this nature. Red Cross mental health volunteers are licensed mental health professionals across several specialties including social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, etc.
A Red Cross mobile feeding unit is moving through the affected neighborhoods serving meals, drinks and snacks to community members as they work to repair their homes.
