Heroes celebrated by Cape Cod & Islands Red Cross

User News Image

The Cape Cod and Islands Heroes Breakfast is our largest fundraising event with over 550 individuals, community leaders, business owners, family and friends in attendance. We are proud to showcase how lives are changed by these heroes in a variety of ways through the acts of selfless heroics either in a moment, or over years of service to our community. Whether it is saving a life, or enriching and transforming lives, every one of the people we highlight are true heroes.

Master of Ceremonies Geri Denterlein of Denterlein, Inc. and Honorary Chair Senator Dan Wolf, CEO and Founder of Cape Air helped make our event run smoothly and raise almost $30,000 that day! Thank you to our sponsors and other supporters, it was our most successful event to date.

Captain Richard Phillips was our special guest presenter at the Heroes Breakfast. He is best known as the Captain of the MV Maersk Alabama during its hijacking by Somali pirates in 2009. Though credited worldwide for this heroism during the attack, Captain Phillips modestly said "most heroes don't have a choice: they just do the best they can." He truly exemplifies the heroic spirit and helped to honor the class of 2013 Red Cross Heroes as a special guest presenter.

Still available for purchase are prints of the program book cover artwork by local artist Elizabeth Mumford for $25 and $40 when signed by the artist. 100% of the proceeds will go to support our Red Cross Chapter.
