"Much like Dracula...thousands of hospital patients also need this precious resource to survive"

Grand Rapids, MI—October 10—Dracula and blood go hand-in-hand.

The American Red Cross is partnering with the Grand Rapids Ballet to offer everyone who comes out to donate at select Grand Rapids-area blood drives now through October 31 a ‘Buy One, Get One’ free coupon to the company’s performance of ‘Dracula’.

“What a great way to promote the importance of blood donation,” said Todd Kulman, Communications Program Manager with the Great Lakes Blood Services Region.  “Much like Dracula needed blood to stay alive, thousands of hospital patients also need this precious resource to survive.”

Dracula returns just in time for Halloween with a newly orchestrated score and updated scenery and projections.  A tale of hypnotic power, boundless love, and mesmerizing horror accompanied by dramatic lights, ghoulish props, and haunting projections.  This Halloween ballet promises to entertain and impress.

About the American Red Cross

The Great Lakes Blood Services Region serves 65 counties, and needs to collect about 650 units of blood a day to meet patient need in hospitals. In addition to supplying about 40 percent of the nation’s blood, the American Red Cross teaches lifesaving skills, provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization—not a government agency—and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
