ST. JOSEPH, Mich., Monday, April 14— The American Red Cross of Berrien and Van Buren Counties invites the community to join them in thanking our nation’s veterans with the “Salute-a-Hero Card Making Project” on Thursday, April 24 from 3:00-6:00 p.m.. Participants are encouraged to create cards of encouragement and gratitude that the Red Cross will distribute to local veterans. The event will be hosted at the Red Cross chapter in St. Joseph.
Every hour of time spent at the “Salute-a-Hero” project will be matched by a financial gift from the Samaritan Foundation to the Red Cross of Berrien and Van Buren Counties. In addition, any monetary donations made at the event will be matched by the Frederick S. Upton Foundation.
“This event is great because it allows the community to thank our veterans while also supporting the Red Cross programs for service men and women,” said Breeze Ettl, chapter executive of the American Red Cross of Berrien and Van Buren Counties. “An hour of your time goes a long way in supporting both our nation’s veterans and the Red Cross.”
The “Salute-a-Hero” project is being held as part of the Red Cross Generations of Giving campaign. Celebrating nearly 135 years of service to more than six generations of Americans, the Generations of Giving campaign supports the mission of the American Red Cross of Berrien and Van Buren counties. The campaign is a donor match program, which encourages families to get involved with the Red Cross by donating or participating in Red Cross events.
