The American Red Cross serving Southwest Minnesota is looking for new volunteers in Martin County. A variety of positions are available that allow people to help their community through the Red Cross by preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies.

Numerous opportunities, with various time commitments and skill sets, are available including:
Disaster Action Team (DAT) Volunteers: DAT Trainees, under the direction of a DAT Responder, respond to local disasters, most often house or apartment fires. DAT Trainees focus on learning the role of a DAT Responder through basic curriculum and on-the-ground experience with the goal of providing effective service to clients and eventual promotion to the DAT Responder role.
Community Volunteer Leader (CVL): A Community Volunteer Leader is a single point of contact for a community or collection of communities (for example, a county) with the primary goal of connecting the community with the Red Cross mission. This position represents all lines of service in the American Red Cross – Humanitarian Services, Bio-medical Services, Service to the Armed Forces, International Services, and Health and Safety Services.
Blood Drive Coordinator: Serve as the connection between your community and the Red Cross blood drive by meeting with the account manager six weeks before the drive, scheduling workers in the canteen and greeter area, helping recruit blood donors and working the day of the drive with Red Cross staff.
Blood Drive Greeter: Welcome donors and assist them with signing in, including preparing name tags, directing them to the check-in computer and distributing literature to read. This volunteer will be sitting and Red Cross staff will provide additional training for duties.
Blood Drive Canteen Server: Oversee the canteen area with snacks and drinks where donors get refreshments after they donate blood. The volunteer can sit or stand and Red Cross staff will provide additional orientation.
