The American Red Cross Greater St. Louis Region thanks Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel for presenting the organization with a check of nearly $10,000 in Unclaimed Property.
On March 4, 2014, Red Cross Regional CEO Cindy Erickson and Red Cross volunteers accepted the check on behalf of the organization.
“We appreciate Treasurer Zweifel’s leadership in streamlining the claims process and now allowing Missourians to donate their Unclaimed Property to charities where it will have a real, positive impact, including the American Red Cross,” Erickson said.
“Any person, group or organization that deals with financial transactions can have Unclaimed Property,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “Today shows how important it is to check regularly for Unclaimed Property. The American Red Cross has impacted every community in this state through disaster relief, blood drives, CPR training and more. Today they are setting a great example for nonprofits and businesses everywhere.”
Anyone with Unclaimed Property – including individuals, businesses, nonprofit organizations and local governments – may go to www.ShowMeMoney.com to search the database or sign up for email alerts to notify account owners when Unclaimed Property comes in matching their information. In December, Treasurer Zweifel unveiled the new program which allows Unclaimed Property account owners to donate all or a portion of their claim directly to charity – often without having to file a claim.
Treasurer Zweifel’s Unclaimed Property check will help the American Red Cross continue to provide community support services including disaster relief, preparedness efforts, training in lifesaving skills, service to military families and blood services.
Locally, the American Red Cross is a proud member agency of the United Way, which makes significant investments every year in Red Cross services.
